Rating of unusual cinemas and theaters

Even if you just had a good time yesterday at some movie complex where all the auditoriums (and, it seems, even the ushers) are the same, you probably want to go to some unusual, atmospheric movie theater. Maybe it will be a retro movie theater with cars that still remember Elvis Presley as seats. Or maybe you’ll go see Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” show on a giant planetarium dome.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Café Cinema
Los Angeles (California, USA).
In this movie theater at Disney Studios in Los Angeles you can not only watch a great movie, but also have a tasty snack – because it is first of all a stylishly decorated retro cafe, where they show light atmospheric movies for a good mood.

Paramount Cinema
Oakland (California, USA).
This theater (strictly speaking), in addition to showing movies, is also the “home” of the Oakland Philharmonic Orchestra and the city’s Ballet Theatre. It opened back in 1931. It is one of the best preserved examples of Art Deco design in America.

Orinda Cinema
California
The Orinda Cinema opened in 1941 – even though it was a challenging time for both the U.S. and the world. In 1980, the dilapidated building was about to be demolished, also for city beautification reasons, but the owners promised to turn the movie theater into Oakland’s crown jewel and managed to find funds for the best restorers and builders. The Orinda is now famous the world over for its unique murals and interiors.

TCL (Grauman’s Chinese Theatre)
Los Angeles
The Chinese Theater was opened in 1927. In total it has 1162 seats, and at the highest-profile premieres (e.g. Star Wars) the auditorium really fills up completely. Near the theater, by the way, is the famous Walk of Fame with the personal stars of celebrities and here they leave the imprints of their hands and feet.

Cinema City
Jerusalem (Israel)
This is an ordinary city movie theater, but all 19 screens have their own unique design. There are stories of tourists who specifically watched the same movie in each of the 19 halls and then tried to analyze how the design affects the perception of the tape. However, this seems to be too much.

Fox Cinema.
Oakland
This vintage 2,800-seat Fox Studios movie theater is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The employees of this theater are used to the fact that tourists come here not so much for the movie theater, but to wander around the restored auditorium and take lots and lots of pictures.

The Movie Theater
Paris, France
Probably one of the most unusual movie theaters in the world, where they decided not to replace the chairs with beds or cushions, but to replace them with boats in the pool. But I wonder how people leave the theater? What if someone from the middle of the “hall” needs to get out? However, art requires sacrifice.

Newport Ultra Cinema
Newport City, Manila, Philippines
The movie theater is not only ultra-modern in design, but also equipped with the latest technology. The owners of the place change the audio and projector equipment every year in order to “be on trend”.

Crest Cinema
Los Angeles
Fans of the retro-Hollywood style will love this movie theater: when the lights go out and only the scenery remains glowing with cozy shades of “technicolor”, you feel like you’re in a movie of the “golden” era of Hollywood.

The Orange Cinema Club
Beijing (People’s Republic of China)
This VIP cinema offers fantastic high-tech design of halls, including “closed” for three-four people, one of the most diverse collections of cigars in the world and a bar with drinks from all over the world. There’s also a pink ceiling. As a bonus.

Olympia Music Hall
Paris
Olympia Music Hall in Paris periodically conducts joint actions with IKEA stores, in which chairs in one of the halls are replaced by beds, and the audience is offered to watch films in a “completely home” atmosphere. Only to get to just such screenings, you have to keep a close eye on the music-hall announcements. That’s where it’s good to watch boring… unhurried movies.

Pula amphitheater
Croatia
This movie theater is located on the grounds of an ancient Roman amphitheater. It seems to be the perfect place to watch Gladiator, 300 Spartans, Alexander and other historical films.

Cineteca Del Matadero
Madrid (Spain).
The main thing about this cinema is that it has the largest collection of rare auteur and non-commercial films. Besides the two cinemas, there is an archive of paintings, a film library, a film and TV studio, a cafe and an inner courtyard, where in the summer a summer cinema and general educational lectures for cinephiles are held.
